PostHeaderIcon In search of the perfect jeans

As the winter sets in, I feel more inclined to get into the jeans, boots and cute sweater look but lately I have been faced with the unthinkable, NOTHING FITS!

Now, I’m petite to begin with, but still, not being able to wear my favourite jeans or pants is just unfair. They sit there folded up nicely on the shelf, beckoning me, I try them on and what is this? They have shrunk! Now I know we bought a new washer and dryer last year and it is high efficiency in every way, so maybe it is doing something to the fabrics. It can’t possibly be that I have put on any extra weight, could it?

So, off I go to the store to try to find some replacements until my favourites fit me again, I’m sure its all been a misunderstanding and we will be zipped together again soon. The first pair of pants I tried on are way too long and a little snug, sitting down is possible if I don’t mind cutting off circulation to a few key areas. Second pair fit well enough but my butt just doesn’t look like it should, it should be perkier. Three pairs of jeans later and I swear the sizes have jumped up and down, its that USA, UK, Canada size battle, nobody can come to an agreement on a real size, throw in Italy and its a mess. Many of the waistbands are cut so low in the back I know one bend to put my nice boots on and I will be flashing someone the plumbers smile.

For the first time ever I am having troubles finding the perfect pair of jeans. I don’t want my sides spilling out or my pockets closer to the back of my legs instead of functionally riding higher.  I mean, what if combs in the pocket come back in style, placement people, placement! It shouldn’t be this hard to find the pant or jean of my dreams. Instead, I’m in the change room with hangers everywhere thinking ” It could be worse Jennifer at least its not bathing suit season.” AHHHH!

If I find the perfect pair of pants or jeans I will share with anyone who will listen, if anyone has found the jean of their dreams let me know. Until then I will go forth on my quest, wish me luck… until we zip again!

Have you ever gone to Cleo? (New favorite store) – They have a HUGE petite section – which i am excluded from …That has something to do with my long legs and big butt, its very discriminatory…I digress.

I found the greatest jeans ever there… and a sweater, a cute shirt…and another sweater…

Well now you know how the rest of us feel – welcome to the club Jennifer! ha ha I do feel for you, it can be so frustrating as our bodies change.

I can’t comment on the perfect jeans unfortunately but I do send you the best of luck!

Thanks for the tip on Cleo, I don’t think I have ever tried there. Will check out the nearest location.

Yes, I have joined yet another club. Well, I guess I know I’m in good company and that a challenge awaits me in the name of good fashion.

Within a year of so called “settling down” a.k.a. marriage and establishing a more regular routine…I discovered that I had put on weight.
(Not where I wanted it either!)
I discussed this with one of the Police Radio Room despatchers..
She informed me that I was experiencing something called CCS, or Contented Cow Syndrome . A condition that commonly occurs in both women and men who have recently married and now have to cook and sit down to eat?
Well, that’s one answer…that I tend to like. (It sure beats changing hormones and middle age explanations.)

  • Jennifer says:

I’m really not sure which is worse, being hormonally challenged or having possibly contracted contented cow syndrome? Let me think…I think hormonally challenged or middle age wins; I would rather either of those…that way I can delude myself into believing that my life hasn’t become as sedentary as it really is.
    :)
Thanks for the comment Pat, always a good laugh!
