A day to celebrate in Vancouver, the Men’s Canadian Hockey team just won a Gold medal in the 2010 Winter Olympics!

The Women’s team did the same thing just days ago and we couldn’t be happier for both our teams success. This has been quite the Olympics for all of our athletes winning more Gold medals than any other nation, we have broke a historical record too!

This city has been on fire since the beginning and I could not be prouder of being not only Canadian but a Vancouverite. I’m surprised by my reaction to all of this as I do know there are things about this event that hang out behind the scenes. However, to see the world enjoy our city and see all of us come together to make it a great experience for those visiting, I’m happy.

The energy has been electric, the faces of people throughout have been beaming and overall I believe it was helpful to take Canada to a new patriotic high. We have taken a page from our neighbours to the south that show us what that looks like to be patriotic and celebrated along side them. Wonderful, relationships developed and further solidified!

    I echo these comments, Jennifer.

Watching that hockey game and seeing Team Canada win gold was an experience I won’t forget. That moment put a crown on what has to be the “re”-defining moment in our history as Canadians; the coming together of a nation through sport and reverence to our fellow citizen, and as well as our worldwide friends and neighbors. No longer will we, Canadians, search for that reason to beam with pride. Our Countrymen and women of all ages and creeds pronounced their patriotism during these games, unequivically and unconditionally.

May all countries experience the same kind of re-birth (more often than not); to rekindle the magic of pure, honest and humble patriotism and love for their country, as we have.

    A Proud Canadian!

    Well put!
It is hard for maybe some in other countries to understand fully what took place here. It was unprecedented. During Expo 86 there was infrastructure built, an excitement and curiousness about the event but nothing like what just transpired. We partied, danced, cheered, laughed, cried and stood happily along side fellow Canadians and our visitors. Being Canadian took on a whole new meaning and having a little laugh about ourselves in the closing ceremony was also good.

From mountains to sea, the diversity of our music, arts and culture, our RCMP and many other things that weren’t even shown distinguish us greatly and are often a surprise to the world. We take those things for granted but no more. We were given a gift through this experience and that was to see each other and this country of ours in the way we should, a beautiful place to live and we let our patriotism fly free.

Thanks so much for your comment, your sentiment was translated so well, I felt it!
