How can I not write about this, along with millions of other people throughout this wonderful world. I was up early to watch the coverage, and hours later still have my eyes and ears on this historic event. I just headed into my office now with my laptop in front of me and my little TV screen on my desk.

This is the first time I have ever watched an inauguration, it never really touched me in the way this has. The energy is infectious even though it is coming to me through the television, is it possible to feel the change and celebration miles or in my case a country away?

Today holds within it so many incredible things least of which is the sense of community. A collective consciousness draped lovingly in its hope for the future. It is a unifying experience and something that can never be duplicated.

As a Canadian viewing this, I see beyond the borders, languages, cultures, religions that make up the mosaic of the US and Canada. Beyond the talk of politics and the direction it may take, the partnerships formed and the vision of the leadership. Beyond all of that is the good will and civility that appears to serenade us. A composition that honors all of the world citizens and welcomes us to join not only in celebration but also in its success.

I want to drink this in and keep in my mind the smile of the new President. I wish our neighbours to the south all of the best. As President Obama serves you, know that you are supported in your efforts to serve this President, he who leads by example and inspires us all.

  • Pat (aka Trish) says:

I am with you on this one, J.C.

I dashed home, with one thing foremost in my mind…Switch on the TV & watch this momentous and joyous occasion.(The coverage started at 4 pm in the afternoon, here in the U.K.)

The joy, enthuisiasm and love that was visibly poured out towards this young leader and his family, cannot be ignored.
President Obama holds the dreams and hopes for a better world and more honest honourable politics in his hands.

I pray that God will guide, guard, strengthen and keep him in the enormous task that he has undertaken.

Maybe other nations, like both of ours will learn some lessons from him too?
